2019 South Point Senior Shootout Event Formats


TURBO CHALLENGE

Qualifying
     Six games across twelve lanes on a 35’ pattern.  Three in ten plus the top eight Super Seniors (age 60 and over) below the cut line advance to the Cashers' Round.  Qualifying Leader (or leaders in the event of a tie for Qualifying Leader) is/are automatically seeded into Stepladder Finals.
Cashers’ Round
     Drop all pins.  No re-oil.  Advancing bowlers (including the Qualifying Leader(s)) bowl four games across eight lanes.  Top five advance to Stepladder Finals.  If the Qualifying Leader(s) is/are not in the top five after completion of the Cashers’ Round, that/those bowler(s) will be seeded respectively in the lowest positions for the Stepladder Finals and the remaining Stepladder spots will be filled from the Cashers’ Round.
Stepladder Finals
     Single game elimination with 5th place bowling 4th place; winner bowling 3rd place, etc.  The higher seed may choose which bowler will begin the match on the left lane.  If the Qualifying Leader is also the Cashers’ Round leader, that bowler must be defeated twice.  The Championship match winner is the Turbo Challenge Champion.


STORM CHALLENGE

Qualifying
     Six games across twelve lanes on a 39’ pattern.  Top 14 plus the top 2 Super Seniors advance to Bracket Round 1.  If two or more Super Seniors are in the top 16 qualifying totals, then the top 16 advance.  Three in ten, plus the top eight Super Seniors not advancing to the Storm Challenge Bracket Finals, cash.  Drop all pins.  Re-oil lanes.
Bracket Round 1:  The 16 qualifiers compete in a seeded (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc.) best-of-five one-game match.  Eight winners advance.
Bracket Round 2:  Winners from Bracket Round 1 compete in a best-of-three one-game match.  Four winners advance.
Semi-Final:  Winners from Bracket Round 2 compete in a one-game match on the same pair of lanes.  Two winners advance.
Championship:  Winners from the Semi-Final compete in a one-game match.  The Championship match winner is the Storm Challenge Champion..


HAYNES BOWLING SUPPLY CHALLENGE

Qualifying
     Six games across twelve lanes on a 43’ pattern.  The top 20 qualifiers plus 4 Super Seniors (with less than 96 entries), the top 26 plus 6 Super Seniors (with 96 to 119 entries), or the top 32 plus 8 Super Seniors (with more than 119 entries) advance to the Match Play Round.  With a full field of 150 bowlers, a total of 51 players plus the top two Super Seniors not advancing to the Haynes Bowling Supply Match Play Finals, cash.
Match Play
     Qualifying pinfall carries over.  No re-oil.  5-game Modified Match Play with 30 bonus pins added to each single game victory (15 bonus pins for ties).  In each match prior to the Position Round, the higher seed may decide which bowler starts the match on the left lane.  Fifth Round is position round and the bowler assigned the left lane will start the match.  Top five advance to Stepladder Finals.
Stepladder Finals 
     Single game elimination with 5th place bowling 4th place; winner bowling 3rd place, etc. The higher seed may choose which bowler will begin the match on the left lane.  The Championship match winner is the Haynes Bowling Supply Challenge Champion.

SOUTH POINT SENIOR SHOOTOUT LOGO INFUSION CHAMPIONSHIP


      The top thirty-two bowlers as determined by their composite qualifying positions from the three previous Challenge events earn a spot in the SPSS Logo Infusion Championship Elimination Bracket Finals.  Qualifiers 1 through 8 earn two byes; qualifiers 9 through 16 earn one bye.  Seeding position ties will be resolved using the bowler's total 18-game pinfall from the three Challenge events.  The 43’ pattern will be on the left lane and the 35’ pattern will be on the right lane of each pair.  In each round, the higher seed may decide which bowler begins the match on the left lane.
Bracket Round 1:  Seeds 17 to 32 are matched in a seeded (17 vs 32, 18 vs 31, etc.) best-of-five one-game match.  Eight winners advance.
Bracket Round 2:  Winners from Bracket Round 1 are matched against seeds 9 through 16 in a seeded best-of-five one-game match.  Eight winners advance.
Bracket Round 3:  Winners from Bracket Round 2 are matched against seeds 1 through 8 in a seeded best-of-five one-game match.  Eight winners advance.
Bracket Round 4:  Winners from Bracket Round 3 compete in a best-of-three one-game match.  Four winners advance.
Semi-Final:  Winners from Bracket Round 4 compete in a one-game match on the same pair of lanes.  Two winners advance.
Championship:  Winners from the Semi-Final compete in a one-game match.  The Championship match winner is the South Point Senior Shootout Logo Infusion Champion.


STEVE COOK'S BOWLING SUPPLY SWEEPER

   Three games across six lanes.  One game will be bowled on each of the three patterns to be used in the Challenge events.  Final standings determined by total three-game pinfall.  Prize payout is 1 in 3 plus 2 Super Seniors.  Limited to 75 entries.  Entry fee is $80.00.

TURBO SWEEPER

     Four games across eight lanes.  Lanes WILL NOT be re-oiled following Turbo Challenge Qualifying Round.  Final standings determined by total four-game pinfall.  Prize payout is 1 in 3 plus 2 Super Seniors.  Limited to 60 entries.  Entry fee is $75.00.

STORM SWEEPER

     Four games across eight lanes.  Lanes WILL be re-oiled using the same pattern as used during the Storm Challenge Qualifying Round.  Final standings determined by total four-game pinfall.  Prize payout is 1 in 3 plus 2 Super Seniors.  Limited to 75 entries.  Entry fee is $75.00.

WESTERN TRUST WEALTH MANAGEMENT "UNDER $301" SWEEPER

     Four games across 8 lanes on the South Point League "House Pattern".  The sweeper is available only to South Point Senior Shootout entrants who cashed for a combined total of $300.00 or less in the three Challenge events (not including Brackets, Side Pots, and/or Super Century Doubles).  Final standings determined by total four-game pinfall.  Prize payout is 1 in 3 plus 2 Super Seniors.  Limited to 60 entries.  Entry fee is $70.00.


SUPER CENTURY DOUBLES

     Using the scores bowled during Challenge Qualifying or the Steve Cook's Bowling Supply Sweeper, a bowler may team up with other bowlers (forming doubles teams) in a total pins competition in each event .  The caveat:  the combined ages of the bowlers comprising each team must equal 120 or more.  Teams may only enter once.  The cost is $20.00 per team and the prize payout is one prize for every five teams.


SOUTH POINT SHOOTING STAR / SUPER SENIOR STAR

     South Point Hotel has generously provided for two prizes of $250.00 each, in addition to any prize money already earned, to the age 50-59 bowler as well as the Super Senior bowler (age 60 and over) with the lowest composite finishing positions in each of the four major events: Turbo Challenge, Storm Challenge, Haynes Bowling Supply Challenge, and the South Point Senior Shootout Logo Infusion Championship.  Those bowlers will be recognized as the "South Point Shooting Stars".
